A Special Memory Recalled.

My separated parents traveled together by rail from Ottawa to Halifax to be with me on my wedding day December 21, 1968. They’re the ones on the left. 51 years ago today we hugged and parted on seeing them off on their return trip to Ottawa for Christmas. Dad had a lower berth, Mom the upper. Though separated their love prevailed, Mom got the lower berth, Dad the upper a gift of love’s giving nature. Mom’s many healed broken bones from being the victim of a hit and run car accident years earlier would have made the upper a difficult go for her. Although I will admit her determination (aka stubbo… ness) would not have kept her from the upper berth. The special memory recalled? I discovered the power of love’s teardrops through tear soaked eyes watching them set off on their return trip to Ottawa, leaving Elsie and I to begin our life journey together at each other’s side. Doh … yeah I’m being a touch emotional. If a loved one is close at hand, miles away, or passed on and a teardrop triggers a memory, embrace it, share it with your heart and a loved one. Beats the hell out of anger any day.  Have a great day! Merry Christmas.
